How we check providers

Every listing is reviewed by a person before it appears on SkinOps, and every detail shows where it came from.

Last updated 13 September 2026

Before a provider is listed

  1. We check the provider against official records, including the Care Quality Commission (CQC) register where the service needs to be registered.
  2. We confirm the address, contact details and the procedures they offer from reliable sources.
  3. A member of the SkinOps team reviews the listing. Nothing is published automatically.

Where information comes from

Each detail on a provider page is labelled with its source:

  • Official data: From an official public dataset, such as the Care Quality Commission register.
  • Checked by SkinOps: Confirmed by the SkinOps team.
  • Supplied by the provider: Given to us by the provider and not independently confirmed.
  • SkinOps research: Found by the SkinOps team from public sources, such as the provider’s website.
  • AI-assisted, not verified: Gathered with the help of AI and not yet checked by a person.

How we use AI

We may use AI to help us find and organise public information, such as the procedures listed on a clinic’s website, and to draft general descriptions. AI-assisted information is always labelled and is never shown as verified until a person has checked it.

CQC ratings

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Where we show a CQC rating, it comes from CQC information, used under the Open Government Licence, and links to the full report on the CQC website. Not every service is rated.

Featured listings

Providers can pay to appear in a featured section at the top of relevant search results. Featured listings are always labelled, go through exactly the same checks and never change the order of the main results.

Keeping information up to date

Prices and services change. Each listing shows when it was last updated, and you should always confirm details with the provider before booking. If you spot something wrong, please tell us and we will check and correct it.
